Master Plans

Four of Moriyama & Teshima Planners' master plans have won prestigious awards from the Waterfront Center in Washington, DC, which honours sensitive, site-specific, sustainable planning and development of urban waterfronts. What distinguishes our plans is their depth and comprehensiveness. Extensive research into natural and cultural history, collection of scientific data, examination of ecological conditions, pilot projects and on-site experiments provide the background to these blueprints for health and well-being.

Our master plans are not quick fixes - they present frameworks that will endure for a hundred years or more. Each is based upon an evolutionary process of manageable steps that can be accomplished as financial and human resources become available. Unlike many master plans, our master plans are all being implemented. Damaged landscapes are being regenerated, water cleaned, lands opened to public use, and healthy environments created.
